How do I install batteries?Carefully follow the instructions on your equipment regarding proper insertion of batteries, ensuring that the (+) and (-) terminals are aligned correctly. Some equipment using three or more batteries might appear to work properly even if one battery is inserted incorrectly. Such incorrect installation could lead to battery leakage or rupture that could result in equipment damage. Do all alkaline batteries last the same amount of time?No, different batteries provide different lengths of life, depending on the type and amount of chemicals used within them. Always use the type and size of alkaline battery in your equipment that is specified by the equipment manufacturer. What is inside a battery?The chemical composition, construction and parts of a battery vary by type. All batteries regardless of type have three major components. These components consist of two electrical terminals and an electrolyte. The negative terminal is called the anode and the positive terminal is called the cathode. How do I avoid battery leakage?To help avoid battery leakage:• Do not mix old and new batteries, different battery types, or different brands within a device.• Always replace all batteries within a device simultaneously.• Remove batteries from a device when the device is not expected to be in use for several months.• Remove worn-out batteries from equipment immediately to prevent possible damage from battery leakage.• Store batteries in dry environments between 41°F to 86°F (5°C to 41°C) How does a battery work?When a battery is put in a device and that device is turned on, a completed circuit is formed. This triggers a chemical reaction inside the battery which creates electrical energy. An electrical current flows out of the negative terminal, into the device which powers it, and back into the positive terminal of the battery. The battery will continue to operate the device until the device is either shut off or one of the chemicals in the battery is depleted and the chemical reaction can no longer occur.
