How To Choose Mini LED Flashlight
Mini LED flashlights are the smallest lights in our store, but don’t let their size fool you: These torches are powerful and pack an impressive amount of features for their size.
We’ve put together a few key points to consider when shopping for a mini LED flashlight to help you find the best light for your needs.
What Size Flashlight Is Considered “Mini?”
Generally speaking, we consider a “mini” LED flashlight to be any light under five inches in length and comparatively thin, but several of the mini lights in our store are much smaller, with some measuring an incredibly compact two inches or less.
Penlights are one notable exception, which can be closer to six inches in length, but they more than makeup for it with their super-thin profiles.
Types Of Mini LED Flashlights
We’ve got several different brands and styles of mini torches in our store, but most of them will fall within three main categories: Batons, keychain lights, and penlights.
Baton flashlights are short, cylindrical lights that resemble full-size tactical or utility EDC flashlights in design. These lights often include the sturdy pocket clip you’ll find on their larger relatives, but they can be conveniently clipped to a wider range of applications like hats and shoulder straps, due to their low weight and smaller frames.
Keychain lights are just that, miniature LED flashlights that are so small they will fit right onto your keychain. These “key lights” are typically the smallest of the mini-LED family, but can still pack an impressive punch with outputs of often more than 100-350 lumens.
Penlights are small LED flashlights about the size of your favorite ink pen, and many of them are designed to hold ink and write as an added feature. Penlights aren’t the highest output torches of the bunch, but many of them still manage to reach 100 lumens or more, on a full charge.
Advantages Of Choosing A Mini LED Flashlight
Most customers shopping for a mini LED flashlight are looking for the most compact LED torch possible while still getting excellent light output and premium features.
Mini LEDs are great as standalone utility flashlights or as a backup to your favorite EDC light.
One of the biggest advantages of a mini LED is the incredible value they present, as they often cost a fraction of the larger lights, while still delivering decent outputs.
Convenience is a major selling point when it comes to these great little lights. Add a mini LED to all the keyrings in your household to make sure you and your family always have a reliable light when you need it.
Key Points To Consider
When shopping for a mini LED flashlight, there are a few key points to keep in mind. Although all these lights are impressively compact, some are much smaller than others.
Consider how you intend to carry your flashlight, whether it’s on a keychain or clipped elsewhere, and make sure the dimensions suit that purpose.
You may also want to consider what other features they include aside from size and output. In addition to multiple output levels, many will also feature self-defense modes like turbo, SOS, and strobe that will serve you in critical situations.
